Two new references feed the Geneva-based Overseas sports watch collection. Titanium models with a chronograph or zone 2 were nicknamed “Everest”.
When Cory Richard – an American traveler and photographer – climbed Mount Everest in 2019, he was wearing a prototype, unique version of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time watch on his wrist. As it happens in the world ruled by social media, the photos of the watch quickly got online, and its unusual design caused collectors to ask for a serial version. Both watches are made of light titanium, combined only with a steel bezel washer. The cases are finished with satin finish and polishing, which contrasts with the matte, sandblasted bezel. Of course, in its typical form, inspired by the Maltese cross. Beneath the sapphire glass, Vacheron closed a gray, porous dial with orange accents, matching the raw colors of titanium. The watches are combined with a Cordura strap with an orange thread. Each set includes a rubber strap that can be easily changed thanks to the implemented quick-change system.
The 42.5 mm Overseas Chronograph “Everest” (13.7 mm thick) is powered by the automatic caliber VC 5200/2. Equipped with a column wheel and a double spring drum, the werk has a power reserve of 52 hours. In addition to a stopwatch capable of measuring up to 12 hours, the mechanism also shows the current date. Finished in NAC technology, gray bridges and a 22ct gold rotor can be seen through the glass caseback.
Overseas Dual Time “Everest” is slightly smaller. Its case measures 41 mm in diameter and 12.8 mm in thickness. The lid is followed by an automatic caliber 5110 DT / 2 with a power reserve of 60 hours. The complication of time indication in the second zone was solved in the form of a central, orange hand with a large tip and an AM / PM indicator at the height of 9 dials.
